Product scanner
Scan a barcode, or photograph the ingredient list when there isn't one. Nomly checks OpenFoodFacts, recognises certifications like the Crossed Grain, and reads labels it hasn't seen before.
For people with coeliac disease
Nomly checks a product's barcode or label against ingredient databases and gluten-free certifications, then gives you one clear answer: safe, caution, or avoid. It also finds gluten-free places to eat in 30+ countries.

Why we're building this
With coeliac disease there's no pill and no cheat day. The only treatment is to avoid gluten completely, and the crumbs count. So every supermarket trip is spent reading ingredients in small print, decoding "may contain" warnings, and wondering whether the recipe changed since last time.
The answers are out there, but they're scattered: ingredient databases, certification registries, coeliac association guides, and the knowledge of other coeliacs. Nomly puts them together and gives you one honest verdict, with the reasons behind it so you can judge for yourself.
We want a coeliac diagnosis to mean less worry, at the shelf, at a restaurant, and abroad.
How it works
No barcode, or not in the database? Take a photo of the ingredient label, or type the code in yourself.
Ingredients from OpenFoodFacts, gluten-free certifications, and an AI reading of the label. Hidden gluten such as barley malt, rye, spelt or ordinary wheat starch is flagged in several languages.
Every check behind the verdict is listed. Save the product to your shelf and check later whether its recipe has changed.
Certified, or no gluten sources and no cross-contamination warnings.
A "may contain" warning, uncertified oats, or another cross-contamination risk.
Contains gluten: wheat, barley, rye, or something made from them.
Features
Scan a barcode, or photograph the ingredient list when there isn't one. Nomly checks OpenFoodFacts, recognises certifications like the Crossed Grain, and reads labels it hasn't seen before.
Restaurants, bakeries and shops in 30+ countries, on a list or a map. Places accredited by coeliac associations come first, and every place shows where its information comes from.
Pick your destination and Places switches to that country. You also get a phrase to show restaurant staff in the local language, with pronunciation, and the local coeliac association.
Keep the products you trust in one place, and tap Check to see whether any of their recipes have changed.
Gluten is always checked. Turn on soy, eggs, nuts or dairy, and every scan screens for those too.
Share verdicts and place reviews, confirm other people's notes, flag places that got it wrong, and add the ones that are missing.
Where the answers come from
Every verdict shows which sources it used. Nothing is hidden behind a score.
Nomly helps you decide. It doesn't replace the label. Recipes change and databases have gaps, so always check the packaging and follow your doctor's or dietitian's advice.
Questions
Yes. Create an account and start scanning.
No. Nomly runs in your phone's browser. To keep it on your home screen like an app, choose "Add to Home Screen" (Safari on iPhone) or "Install app" (Chrome on Android).
Take a photo of the ingredient list. Nomly reads it, looks for gluten sources and allergen warnings, and gives you a verdict like any scan.
Nomly is built around the strict standard that coeliac disease needs, so it also works for anyone with non-coeliac gluten sensitivity or a wheat allergy, or anyone cooking for them.
Product scanning works with any barcode in OpenFoodFacts, which covers products sold worldwide. Places cover 30+ countries across Europe, the Americas, Asia and Oceania. How many are certified varies by country, and each place shows its badge.
Your account, shelf and posts are stored securely and are only used to run the app. Analytics are cookieless and nothing is sold.
